Burnaby stabbing victim dies at hospital

One person was transported to the hospital Sunday morning after being stabbed in the Metrotown area, Burnaby RCMP say.

One person was transported to the hospital Sunday morning after being stabbed in the Metrotown area, Burnaby RCMP say.

However, they were pronounced dead after arrival.

It happened near the Metrotown Mall, where frontline officers were sent to secure the area.

Now the case is under control of the Integrated Homicide Investigation Unit (IHIT).

Police urge residents to contact them if they were in the Metrotown area between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. on Dec. 19 and saw anything suspicious.

IHIT declined to provide further information to CityNews Vancouver at this point in the investigation.
