Woman arrested in second stranger assault in a week, Vancouver police say

The Vancouver Police have arrested a woman who they say is responsible for recent random attacks in the downtown area.
Police were called to the Strathcona neighbourhood Saturday afternoon over reports of a woman punching and kicking people near Main Street and National Avenue.
A woman was arrested at the scene.
During the arrest, police say a 26-year-old male victim came forward and said he had also been assaulted by the same woman.

Two other people also spoke with law enforcement, but “didn’t want to participate in a court process,” officers said in a release Sunday.
Samantha Towedo, 38, has been charged with one count of assault in connection with the incident.
She is known to police, and faces another assault charge stemming from an incident last week near Marine Gateway in the Marpole neighbourhood.
In that incident, a 23-year-old woman was punched in the face when she refused to give a cigarette to a stranger.
Towedo was charged with one count of assault, she was released a day later on Feb. 2.
