One person is dead after a shooting in an Abbotsford residential neighbourhood Monday night.
Police were called to the area of Latimer Street and Laburnum Avenue near Stoney Creek just before 10 p.m. to find a 41-year-old man with life-threatening injuries.
The victim has been identified as 41-year-old Chad Colivas. He was treated at the scene but died shortly after. Police say no suspects have been identified or arrested.
Few other details have been released but Abbotsford police don’t believe there is a risk to the public.
“We are in the infancy stages of our investigation; however, the early indications suggest that Mr. Colivas’ death is not associated to the Lower Mainland Gang Conflict,” said Det. Cpl. Sukhi Dhesi with IHIT.
Abbotsford Police are Investigating a Homicide at a residence within the 3500 block of Latimer Street. The victim is a 41-year-old-male. Investigators are in the early stages. No information to suggest the public is at risk. IHIT has been called to the scene. pic.twitter.com/0lYwkumSt0
