Man in hospital following targeted shooting in Coquitlam

Coquitlam RCMP say a man is in hospital with non-life-threatening injuries after shots were fired Friday afternoon.
Mounties responded a little after 3:30 p.m. to a confirmed shooting near Tanger Ct. and Chickadee Place.
At the scene, officers found the male victim, who is known to police, and transported him the hospital.

Mounties say a vehicle on fire was found after the shooting near Albert and Hope streets in Port Moody, which police believe was related to the incident.
“This has the indications of being targeted and connected to the Lower Mainland Gang conflict,” RCMP say in a statement. “Police continue to gather evidence with the aim of identifying suspects.”
A bystander was seriously injured after the vehicle in Port Moody exploded Mounties added Saturday.
Friday’s incident is the third day in a row police in the province have reported a shooting.
