YVR security staff shortage causing longer waits

YVR is warning passengers to arrive early before their departures following unusually long waits to clear security due to staff shortages.

A statement from YVR says it’s unclear when this situation will improve.

“YVR is welcoming up to 45,000 passengers per day and the airport anticipates passenger traffic to continue to increase,” the statement reads.

In the meantime, travellers are being advised to be at the airport two hours before a domestic flight and three hours before a flight to the US or beyond.

YVR reminds passengers that masks continue to be required in the terminal and onboard for flights. It adds, follow in-terminal signs, prepare for passenger screenings and have travel documents ready before checking in to a flight.
