Collison in Burnaby sends one passenger to hospital with serious injuries

According to Burnaby RCMP, a 26-year-old female passenger involved in two-car collisions has been sent to the hospital with serious and potentially life-altering injuries.
Mounties were on the scene of a crash near on Highway 1 east of the Kensington on-ramp involving two vehicles Saturday just before 4 a.m.
“The driver of a black 2009 Acura CSX was travelling east-bound on Highway 1 when it struck a blue 2010 Audi A5 that had temporarily pulled over to park on the shoulder of the highway,” a statement from police reads. “The black Acura then struck a female passenger who had exited the blue Audi while she was standing on the roadway.”

The passenger was transported to the hospital with serious and potentially life-altering injuries.
The driver of the black Acura remained on scene and police have spoken to those involved.
Police have not confirmed if speed, driver impairment or road conditions were factors that lead to the collision.
Anyone who may have witnessed the incident or has dashcam footage while travelling on Highway 1 near Kensington Avenue from 3:30 a.m. to 4:30 a.m. is asked to contact the Burnaby RCMP at 604-646-9999.
