Cory William Thomas, 33, has been identified as the victim. Police adds it appears to be a targeted shooting.

The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT) says they are releasing the name in hopes it will help identify witnesses and associates.

“We are able to confirm this is an isolated incident,” said Sgt. David Lee of IHIT. “We are speaking to witnesses and providing support and victim services to those affected.”

IHIT says they believe the shooting is connected to the drug trade, but not related to the ongoing gang conflict.

They are looking to speak to anyone who has information about the activities of Cory William Thomas.
