A high-risk sex offender who was wanted by Vancouver police on a Canada-wide warrant has been arrested.

According to the VPD, John Frederick Field was taken into custody by the Surrey RCMP Tuesday morning.

The 60-year-old was wanted after he failed to return to his halfway house last Thursday. He had been on statutory release from the Kent Institution in Agassiz.

At the time, the VPD said that Field posed a “significant risk to the public.”

The man is serving a sentence for sexual assault, break and enter, robbery, and theft.
