15 stolen bikes found in Vancouver, man arrested

More than 15 stolen bikes were found at a storage facility in Vancouver, and a man has now been arrested.

It all started when a bike was stolen in North Vancouver earlier this year.

The owner of the bike checked popular resale websites to see if it would turn up, and when they saw the bike being sold on Facebook Marketplace, they told the RCMP.

Police were able to find and arrest a 50-year-old man. They say he is “of no fixed address and is known to police.”

As the investigation continued, the RCMP says officers were led to a storage locker in Vancouver that contained high-end bikes, frames, and assorted parts.

Police are now trying to find the owners of all the stolen items.

“We encourage anyone who has been victim of bicycle theft to go online and search for your bike,” said Sgt. Peter DeVries with the North Vancouver RCMP. “If you see it, please contact your local police.”

If you own a bike, police recommend you record details about it, such as its serial number. They also recommend taking a picture of your bike to help serve as a reference if you ever need to track it down, and registering it with a bike theft recovery service.
