Canada Post employee steals 500 pieces of mail in eastern Alberta: RCMP

Wainwright RCMP says officers issued a search warrant for a home and vehicle belonging to a Canada Post employee Wednesday night in Wainwright, located east of Edmonton.
Mountie say officers found 500 stolen packages.
Police say the packages have been returned to Canada Post, where they can make their way to the intended final destinations.
Officers say the employee was arrested, but then released on bail.
The suspect is expected to appear in Wainwright Provincial Court Jan. 5, 2023.

Meanwhile, Canada Post and RCMP remind people to stay vigilant to prevent getting their mail stolen.
Mounties ask people to make sure they pick up their mail as soon as it arrives, have someone pick up the mail if not available, and to avoid sending cash by mail.
