Canada Post suspends service for several B.C. communities due to snow
If you’re expecting a package from Canada Post today, you may be waiting a little while longer.
Canada Post says Tuesday’s snowstorm is making mail delivery tricky, and it has suspended service in several B.C. communities on Wednesday.

A number of communities are listed in the “Red” alert section on the postal service’s website, a designation which means deliveries are temporarily stopped.
“We are suspending delivery and not sending our delivery agents out or we are recalling them,” Canada Post said.
In Metro Vancouver, it says mail delivery won’t be happening for areas including Surrey, Coquitlam, Delta, Langley, New Westminster, Port Coquitlam, Port Moody, Richmond, and White Rock.

According to the service, other areas are listed in the “Yellow” alert section, which could mean mail slow-downs.
“We are going to do our best to deliver, but there may be delays,” it said.

In addition to Burnaby, the delay alert is in place for areas of the Fraser Valley, including Abbotsford, Chilliwack and Maple Ridge.
Vancouver Island will likely have its own set of hold-ups, as the alert includes Victoria, Campbell River, Duncan, and Comox Valley.
“We encourage customers to clear the snow and ice from their walkways, stairs, and driveways, to ensure safe access to the front door for both their visitors, as well as their mail carriers, when service resumes,” the service said in a tweet.

It’s unclear how long service will be suspended or delayed, but Canada Post says it will be back to normal once conditions improve, and it’s safe to do so.
