Online petition to rename Burrard Inlet after North Vancouver hockey star

Because he’s just that good, someone has started an online petition to rename Burrard Inlet after a local hockey sensation.

Connor Bedard, 17, is from North Vancouver and his explosive play at the World Junior Championship has caught the attention of fans all around the world and piqued further interest in him ahead of this summer’s NHL Draft.

The new name, even if it’s only symbolically, would be ‘Bedard Inlet.’

Bedard has helped carry Team Canada throughout the tournament and on to the gold medal game, which goes at 3 p.m. PT Thursday, after they beat the U.S. 6-2 on Wednesday. The teen has also set several records, including five in just one game.

There is growing interest in Bedard at a local level, as fans of the struggling Vancouver Canucks are holding out hope the team tanks this year and gets lucky in the draft lottery draw for the presumptive top pick of the 2023 draft.
