Van smashes into front of 7-Eleven in Port Moody: police

Police in Port Moody say a van smashed into the front of a 7-Eleven Tuesday afternoon.
In an email to CityNews, the Port Moody Police Department says the crash happened around 12:35 p.m. at 2929 St Johns Street.
“A red van collided into the front of the convenience store. The driver – who was the lone occupant of the vehicle – was treated for minor injuries and transported to hospital by paramedics as a precaution,” the email reads.
“Thankfully, no one else was hurt as a result of the collision. We believe driver error played a role in the collision.”

Port Moody Fire Rescue Deputy Chief Kirk Heaven says investigators believe it was due to a medical emergency where the driver put their foot on the gas instead of the break.
He adds that the store has since been boarded up.
