Are you looking to bring a new furry family member into your home? The BC SPCA has you half covered this weekend.
The pet shelter and adoption service is offering 50 per cent off all adoption fees starting Friday and running until Sunday in honour of Adopt-a-Shelter-Pet Day.
It says all locations across BC are participating, and will also offer extended hours throughout the weekend.
The point of the day is to raise awareness about the thousands of animals cared for in shelters across North America.

Services for animals in need rose in 2022: BC SPCA
Adrienne McBride, senior director for the organization’s Community Animal Centres, says the goal of the SPCA is to provide emergency treatment and care, along with a home of some kind, to animals in need.
“Animals come into our care through no fault of their own,” she said. “Sometimes guardians just aren’t able to care for their pets and they seek our help to find them a new home. In other cases, animals are seized from dangerous or neglectful situations.”
McBride says “seeing an animal go home with their new guardian” is one of the most rewarding aspects of her job, and Adopt-a-Shelter-Pet Day aims to do just that.
“Often animals come to us from less-than-ideal situations, where their needs were not being met. To see them go to a home where they will be cared for and cherished is such a wonderful feeling.”
The BC SPCA says it cared for nearly 16,000 animals in 2022.
