Mounties in Coquitlam say they responded to a shooting that left one man “seriously injured” in the Burke Mountain neighbourhood Wednesday night.
In an email to CityNews, police they arrived near the intersection of David Avenue and Coast Meridian Road around 7:30 p.m.
When officers showed up, they found a man with “life-threatening” bullet wounds and gave on-site first aid before transporting him to hospital.
Police say they believe the shooting was targeted, and explain a suspect left in a silver or grey four-door vehicle.
Twenty minutes later, Mounties say they were informed of a burning vehicle about 10 kilometres away at the intersection of Cape Horn Avenue and United Boulevard and believe it is related to the shooting.

Police say there is no current risk to the public, adding the Coquitlam General Investigation Section has taken over the investigation.
“This area was highly populated at the time of the shooting which is very concerning as public safety is our top priority,” said Cpl. Alexa Hodgins.
Police ask anyone who may have any information or footage related to the shooting to contact the Coquitlam RCMP at 604-945-1550, and quote file number 2023-12269.
