Woman stabbed in downtown New Westminster: police

Police in New Westminster say a woman was stabbed near the intersection of Carnarvon Street and 4th Street Thursday afternoon.

The New Westminster Police Department (NWPD) says officers were called to the area at 12:10 p.m. when they “rushed to provide life-saving aid” before she was brought to a hospital.

Police say Thursday’s stabbing is still under investigation but say they don’t believe the public is at any more risk.

In a statement, Sgt. Andrew Leaver says, “Officers are in the evidence-gathering stage.”

Back in early May, the NWPD said it was deploying more officers in New Westminster’s downtown area after multiple attacks.

Police ask anyone with any information related to the incident to call the NWPD Major Crime Unit at 604-529-2430 or email mcucrimetips@nwpolice.org.
