Vancouver building damaged in fire

Fire crews in Vancouver say more than two dozen firefighters responded to a blaze that broke out Sunday morning.

Assistant Chief of Operations with the Vancouver Fire and Rescue Services, Brad Hesse, says officers were called to the Little Mountain Neighbourhood House around 5:30 a.m.

“A report came in from an alarm company stating that there was a fire at 3981 Main Street. Crews found smoke in the building, fire had gotten ahold of the building at the rear on the main flood, and it spread up through the second floor and the ceiling,” he said.

He says the fire is under control, but adds crews are still on-scene.

“Fire has been contained and knocked down, crews are still dealing with a couple of hot spots in different areas of the ceiling,” Hesse explained.
