Fatal shooting in Richmond, IHIT called in

Mounties say a man was shot and killed in Richmond Thursday evening, homicide investigators have since been called in.

Police say officers were called to Minler Road with reports of a shooting at 5:45 p.m., finding a “critically injured man” on arrival.

“First responders attempted life-saving measures, but the victim was pronounced deceased on scene,” reads a release from the Richmond RCMP.

Police say there was a vehicle fire about 10 minutes later near two churches on Blundell Road — approximately a 10 minute drive from where they found the man. Mounties are still investigating whether or not the vehicle was involved in the shooting.

Mounties in Richmond say they will no longer provide details on the shooting, as the Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT) now has full conduct of the investigation.
