Ed Sheeran sets new BC Place attendance record

A swarm of Ed Sheeran fans flocked to BC Place Saturday evening to break its longstanding attendance record.

Last set in 2009 by U2, Sheeran surpassed the previous record by 1,259 and set a new record of 65,061.

“Congratulations to Ed Sheeran on his remarkable achievement of breaking the attendance record at BC Place Stadium,” said Chris May, General Manager at BC Place. “The energy and excitement radiating from the crowd were nothing short of electric.”

May added that meeting this milestone in BC Place’s 40th anniversary year makes it even more special.

Sheeran’s visit to Vancouver marked the second Canadian stop on his 2023 Mathematics Tour, after visiting Toronto in June.

He performed two concerts in Vancouver, including a more intimate venue prior to Saturday’s BC Place show. The last time he toured in Vancouver was in 2017.

BC Place has four more concerts scheduled for 2023, including Beyonce, Coldplay and Guns N’ Roses.
