Arson at Prince George logging site leaves $1M in damaged machinery: RCMP

A fire that’s believed to have been deliberately set at a Prince George logging site has resulted in about $1 million worth of damage to equipment, the RCMP says.

According to investigators, the arson happened sometime over the weekend on the Mackenzie Lookout Forest Service Road.

The RCMP says employees left the site Friday afternoon, and came back Tuesday morning to find “three of their machines burned beyond repair.”

Investigators note the area where the machines were left is “is fairly remove and not visible” from that road.

“We are looking to speak with anyone that was in this area over the weekend who may have noticed some unusual activity or anything suspicious that could assist in this investigation,” said Corp. Jennifer Cooper.

Police are asking anyone with information to contact the Prince George RCMP at 250-561-3300 and quote file number 2023-30709.
