Collision involving train, tanker truck in Langley causes traffic delays along Glover Road

A collision between a train and a water tanker truck in Langley early Saturday morning is expected to cause delays for drivers for hours, Mounties tell CityNews.

The collision happened near Glover Road and 216th Street just after 3 a.m.

While the tanker truck has been removed, the train remains in place and traffic is still being affected. Southbound on Glover Road is blocked, while northbound is still getting through, the RCMP has confirmed.

Expect delays until at least 2 p.m., Langley RCMP Staff Sgt. Kimberly Farlin told CityNews.

“It’s kind of a logistical nightmare right now trying to figure out exactly how we’re going to get things going,” Farlin said.

While no injuries have been reported, crews say the driver of the truck was taken to hospital for assessment. No impairment is suspected.

“It was just obviously misjudging while (the driver) was turning around,” Farlin said.

Canadian Pacific police have taken over the investigation, the RCMP says.
