Burnaby RCMP seizes drugs, weapons in 3 area homes

The Burnaby RCMP says a drugs and weapons were seized from three homes in the city and Coquitlam between March and April.

On March 22, Mounties say they seized more than 10 kilograms of fentanyl, crack cocaine, and methamphetamine, as well as prescription pills like Xanax, Oxycontin and Percocet from two homes in Burnaby and Coquitlam.

Officers from the Drugs and Organized Crime Section also took a handgun, high-capacity magazines, plenty of cash, and equipment to make fraudulent credit cards.

Three people were arrested and released with a court date.

Police searched a third residence on April 2, where they say a stolen vehicle was recovered, as well as more drugs, weapons and cash. One person was arrested there and later released with a court date.

The investigation included the seizure of more than 3,000 Hydromorphone pills, also known as Dilaudid, the RCMP says. Police believe much of the inventory was intended for street sale.

“It is believed these seizures have disrupted a crime group not only involved in drug trafficking, but also planning violence against rival gangs involved in the B.C. gang conflict,” said Burnaby RCMP Chief Superintendent Graham de la Gorgendiere.
