Crews battle out-of-control wildfire near Williams Lake

A large out-of-control wildfire burning west of Williams Lake has reached over 100 hectares, the BC Wildfire Service (BCWS) says.

The fire is a few kilometres south of Alexis Creek bordering the Chilcotin River.

The BCWS says it was discovered yesterday afternoon and is suspected to be human caused.

An attack crew, helicopters and air tankers are currently responding to the fire.

There are currently 105 active fires across the province — 5 of them sparked in the last day — but the majority are under control.
