Police seek information about collision after Mission woman found dead

The Mission RCMP is asking the public for help investigating a collision on Norrish Forest Service Road after a woman was found dead inside a vehicle at the bottom of a nearby embankment, 300 metres below the roadway.

Police say they received a call around 4:30 a.m. on Monday after forestry workers found a 33-year-old man on the road just east of Mission.

The man said he was driving his truck the day before when it went off an embankment. He said his passenger was killed in the crash, while he himself managed to climb the embankment back to the road.

Police say he was suffering from non-life-threatening injuries and was taken to hospital.

Mission Search and Rescue came to the scene and helped crews get down the embankment to the truck.

The RCMP say they are looking for people who were in the area known as the Paradise swimming hole, at any time between Sunday, July 7, and Thursday, July 11. They are also looking to speak to anyone who was anywhere along Norrish Creek Forest Service Road on Sunday, July 7, and may have seen a blue 2003 Ford Explorer. Police have shared a stock photo of a similar vehicle.

Anyone with any information is being asked to call the Mission RCMP at 604-826-7161 and quote file 24-7899.
