Extra BC Ferries sailings added over Taylor Swift concert weekend

Vancouver Island Swifties worried about getting to the biggest event of the year — shake it off.

BC Ferries is adding sailings to accommodate increased traffic over the weekend of Dec. 6 to 8, when Taylor Swift’s Eras tour takes over Vancouver’s BC Place.

“We know this is a big weekend for many travellers, and our goal is to help everyone get where they need to go smoothly,” says Melanie Lucia, vice-president of customer experience.

“We’ve added extra sailings to boost capacity where we can, but we strongly encourage customers to book in advance, consider off-peak times, consider alternate forms of transportation, or travel as foot passengers to help us keep everyone moving with minimal delays.”

On Friday, Dec. 6, the ferry service is adding extra sailings in both directions between Swartz Bay and Tsawwassen at 5 a.m. and 11 p.m. On Sunday, Dec. 8, additional late-night sailings are scheduled from Swartz Bay to Tsawwassen at 11 p.m. and from Tsawwassen to Swartz Bay at 1 a.m. (early morning Monday, Dec. 9).

Taylor Swift’s Eras tour has been breaking records since it began in March 2023, and the Vancouver show on Dec. 9 will be the last date of the series, which spanned five continents.
