Vancouver city officials address Taylor Swift-related disruptions

BC Place is getting set to host the final leg of the Taylor Swift Eras Tour. As Lauren Stallone reports, the area around the stadium will be strictly limited to ticket holders on concert nights.

With little more than a week before Taylor Swift takes to the stage at BC Place, city officials gathered Thursday to prepare Vancouver for the upcoming disruptions.

The City of Vancouver, the Vancouver Police Department, Vancouver Fire Rescue Services, Metro Vancouver Transit Police, TransLink and PavCo — the operators of BC Place — held a news conference at 10 a.m., detailing their preparations ahead of the three Eras Tour concerts on Dec. 6, 7 and 8. “Plan ahead and allow for extra time to get where they need to go. Anticipate delays especially near BC Place, Rogers Arena and Concord Pacific Place. Whenever possible walk, bike, roll, or take transit to and from downtown,” the City of Vancouver said.

The city says fans without tickets are strongly advised to avoid the stadium vicinity on event nights; ticket holders are asked to enter through the appropriate gate; and friendship bracelets are allowed, but must be worn in or carried in a bag that abides the venue’s bag policy.

Visitors are encouraged to dress warmly; be considerate of the community by keeping noise to a minimum when leaving events and properly disposing of waste; and consider taking active transport to the show — including Mobi bikes by Rogers, which is ensuring dock availability near BC Place at the Dunsmuir and Beatty, Expo and Smithe, and Carrall and Seawall stations.
