A man has been arrested following what the Port Moody Police Department (PMPD) calls an “unusual” attempted burglary Wednesday morning.
Just before 4 a.m., officers responded to a call from a homeowner who reportedly heard someone inside of his Glenayre area home.
In a statement, the PMPD says the caller barricaded himself in a room until officers arrived.
According to police, the intruder began screaming and causing a disturbance as officers arrived.
A suspect was arrested in the home. Police say they are recommending charges against a 32-year-old man of no fixed address.
“We believe the intruder entered the home through an insecure door and we are reminding the community of the importance of securing your home at all times,” Mounties warned.
