Woman dies after found unresponsive on Blackcomb Mountain

Whistler Blackcomb and the Sea to Sky RCMP say a woman died after an incident on Blackcomb Mountain Thursday morning.
Mounties say Whistler Blackcomb ski patrol reported an unresponsive person found on the mountain, after a someone riding the gondola noticed her.
Police say patrollers began life-saving efforts, but eventually transported her to the base of the mountain and transferred her to paramedics’ care.

“Despite the best efforts of all who attended and provided assistance, the female was declared deceased after arrival at the health care clinic,” the RCMP said in a release Thursday afternoon.
Whistler Blackcomb COO Belinda Trembath says the resort is “deeply saddened” by the incident.
“Whistler Blackcomb’s sympathy and support are with the guest’s family and friends during this incredibly difficult time,” said Trembath.
The Sea to Sky RCMP says its investigation is ongoing alongside the BC Coroner Service. The Whistler RCMP is looking to speak with anyone who may have witnessed this incident.
