Shots fired at car in north Delta

The Delta Police Department asked people to stay out of an area in the Sunbury neighbourhood Monday morning after it received reports of shots fired.

Police say they received reports of the shooting along River Road near 92 Street just before 10:50 a.m.

“There are no injuries; however, a vehicle has been located with bullet holes,” the DPD said in a statement.

Investigators believe the suspect fled the area of the shooting. At the time of the incident, police say the male suspect was wearing all black clothing.

“Motivation for this incident is not known. A further update will be made once we have been able to determine more details,” the DPD said.

In an update Monday afternoon, police say investigators now believe the incident was targeted.

“Officers continue to investigate and will remain in the area,” as of 2 p.m., but police say the request for the public to avoid the area has been lifted.
