National Indigenous Peoples Day celebrations held around Lower Mainland Saturday

June 21 is National Indigenous Peoples Day, celebrated in Canada since 1996 as a way to honour the culture and traditions of the First Nations, Métis, and Inuit Peoples.

In Vancouver, the third annual National Indigenous Peoples Day Block Party Celebration kicked off at noon Saturday.

“Throughout the day, enjoy dynamic performances from Indigenous artists, explore cultural sharing activities, visit community organization tables, and check out the Vendor Village,” event organizers said.

“This event is open to everyone—come and be part of a day filled with culture, community, and celebration.”
