Bear attacks jogger in Squamish

Conservation officers have issued a public safety advisory after a black bear attacked a jogger in Squamish Monday evening.

The B.C. Conservation Officer Service (BCCOS) says the victim, a man, was running along a trail in the Wildlife Management Area around 7 p.m., when he came upon two bear cubs.

That’s when the sow charged him and swiped his arm and leg, leaving him with “minor injuries.”

Officers responded to the area, barricading it and posting warning signs.

The BCCOS is asking the public to avoid the area until further notice.

“Conservation officers will be in the area on Tuesday morning,” said a post to social media.
