Those looking to get in touch with family and friends may have panicked briefly Friday morning, worrying they may need to do so the old-fashioned way — by email.

Facebook and Instagram had major issues across the world Friday morning, according to Down Detector, but they were up and running shortly afterwards.

The internet-monitoring website says the platforms started having issues shortly before 7 a.m. They were up and running again before 7:20 a.m. — but not before causing a short flurry of anxiety across X.
