Richmond police officer has been charged with dangerous driving

A Richmond RCMP officer has been charged following an incident that occurred in July of 2025.

Cst. Beyond Xi was driving a police vehicle when they were involved in a collision with a Honda Ridgeline at Williams and No.4 roads in Richmond.

The driver of the Ridgeline, a man in his 50s, was injured said a statement from the Independent Investigations Office (IIO) of BC.

Three other people were injured in the collision. A man and a woman who were pedestrians, and a person in their yard.

The IIO stated that the two pedestrians were seriously injured and all four people were taken to the hospital.

The IIO started its investigation into the collision and took witness statements, specialized forensic reports from a third party and video footage from the area.

On Friday, the BC Prosecution Service announced that it was charging Xi with two counts of dangerous driving causing bodily harm.

According to Sgt. Venessa Munn from E Division, Xi is on administrative duties and his duty status is subject to continuous review and assessment.  A Code of Conduct investigation was initiated and remains ongoing.

The first court appearance for Xi will be Aug. 4 in Richmond.
