Charges laid in assault in Chilliwack, police say

The Chilliwack RCMP says it has had charges approved in an assault that happened on Wells Road May 3.

Around 2 a.m., police were called to an assault where a youth was transported to hospital with serious injuries.

Chilliwack RCMP Serious Crimes Unit took over the investigation and said Wednesday the BC Prosecution Service had approved two charges — assault with a weapon and assault causing bodily harm — against an 18-year-old from Chilliwack.

His first appearance in court was July 14.

“This investigation involved significant efforts by the Chilliwack RCMP Serious Crimes Unit and support from members of the public who provided valuable information,” said Const. Brennan Kish of the Chilliwack RCMP Serious Crimes Unit.
