Commuter challenges continue along West Broadway in Vancouver

The Broadway Subway Project is continuing to disrupt commuters.
West Broadway is now closed to vehicle traffic between Alberta and Cambie Streets for the next six months.
New signage in the area has been put up to let people know about the detour, and Traffic Control People are on street corners, helping direct traffic as needed.
At this time, most sidewalks here remain open to pedestrians.
The reason for this closure is for the repaving and removal of the traffic deck to complete the construction of the Millennium Line portion of Broadway City Hall Station.
Traffic is being temporarily rerouted via 8th Avenue between Alberta and Ash streets, meaning customers looking to shop along this stretch of construction may have a difficult time navigating their way.
Transit buses are also impacted, with the number 9 and number 99 B Line detouring to 8th Avenue and stops shifted along Broadway.
Translink says commuters should prepare for possible delays, which riders will take, so long as they aren’t the ones in the cars.
The new line is expected to go into service in fall 2027.
