The Maple Ridge RCMP says a man has been taken to hospital in critical condition following a shooting in the city’s Cottonwood neighbourhood late Tuesday evening.
Police say they were called to the area of 236 Street near 114A Avenue around 10 p.m. When they arrived they found a man inside a vehicle parked outside a residence.

“Officers on scene located a 56-year-old male victim inside a vehicle outside a residence suffering from an apparent gunshot wound,” Mounties said in a news release.
Pictures taken at the scene show a white vehicle with damage to the driver’s side window.

As of Wednesday morning, investigators remain in the area, the RCMP says.
“Officers are continuing to gather evidence and determine exact circumstances, including taking statements and canvassing the area for video surveillance and potential witnesses,” police said.

BC Emergency Health Services says multiple paramedic ground and air resources were sent to the area prior to the patient being taken to hospital.
