Manslaughter charge laid almost a year after homicide in Sparwood

A Sparwood woman has been charged with manslaughter in connection to the death of a man over a year ago in the town.

On Nov. 2, 2025, Elk Valley RCMP were called to reports of a 49-year-old man struck and killed by a grey 2017 Toyota Tundra outside the A&W on Aspen Drive.

Police say that due to the circumstances around the death, the Southeast District Major Crime Unit took control of the investigation.

After almost a year of investigation, Tracy Erickson of Sparwood was arrested and charged with one count of manslaughter on Oct. 28.

The court documents have marked the case as a “K” file, which in British Columbia courts stands for an Intimate Partner Violence (IPV) or domestic violence case.
