Abbotsford Police make 2014 wishlist

ABBOTSFORD (NEWS1130) – Abbotsford Police are reflecting on the the years passed and making goals for the year ahead.

The city was known as the murder capital of BC between 2008 and 2009, but this year the city only had two homicides and neither of them were gang-related.

“When you compare statistically how we’re dealing with statistics and death, every year from 2010 onward it’s marked different,” Abbotsford Police Cst. Ian MacDonald

He says they will put resources towards road safety in 2014 with the hopes of cutting down on the number of drunk driving crashes and hit and runs. He says people can expect similar tactics to what they saw this year. “We tried humour, we even tried calling out male drivers as a way of getting attention. Certainly, we have seen some improvement.”

MacDonald says another priority is to reduce the number of robberies at small businesses.
