Snow still falling on some BC Interior highways

MERRITT (NEWS1130) – Even though we’ve been enjoying sunshine in the Lower Mainland over the last few days, it’s still a bit of a dicey situation on some of our Interior routes.
People heading out of town for Spring Break may still run into some snowfall; the Coquihalla summit is expecting 10-20 cm of snow today.
“The good news is that’s expected to ease off when we expect most of the commuter traffic to come through that corridor,” says Bob Gilowski with VSA Highway Maintenance.
“The rest of the weekend looks a little unsettled,” he admits.
Gilowski notes it is still a good idea to keep those winter tires on your car.
“This is what we would normally expect in the month of March… we can still see upwards of about 100-150 cm of snowfall,” he tells us.
He says drivers should expect travel to take longer than usual.
