VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) – The woman killed by a lion on a South African safari earlier this week had been living in Vancouver before her death, working as a visual effects editor on shows such as Game of Thrones.
Friends and family are remembering Katherine Chappell, originally from New York, as “brilliant, kind, adventurous and high-spirited,” in a Facebook group set up in her memory.
Her sister says she was very much loved and shared her love for life with those she met.
Chappell died on Monday after a lion attacked her through an open car window. The driver of that vehicle was injured in the attack but is expected to survive.
On her tribute page, a friend writes, “May the Love of the Lord bring Peace to your family and may He wrap his arms around you and carry you home.” The Facebook group states a wake will be held on Friday in Rye, New York.
Chappell had also worked films like “Godzilla,” “Captain America: The Winter Soldier” and “Divergent.”
