Simon says he wants to play Saturday

By

VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) – The BC Lions did not have receiver Geroy Simon on the practice field today in Surrey but he is planning to play this Saturday when the Lions welcome Montreal to BC Place in a rematch of last Friday’s 30-25 Alouettes’ victory in Montreal.

The 36-year-old Simon left Friday’s game in the second quarter with a sore hamstring and did not return.

Simon continued rehabilitation today and is hoping that he is fully healthy by Saturday.

“I plan on playing.  That’s my goal to play. I have every intention of doing that,” he says. “I just have to test it out and every day it’ll get a little better,” says Simon, who has had an off-season by his standards.  Simon sits 12th in CFL receiving yards and hasn’t caught a touchdown pass since the preseason.

Simon, the franchise’s all-time career leader in CFL receiving yards has been less of a target for quarterback Travis Lulay with the play of receivers like Arland Bruce and Akeem Foster.
