Singing while driving is a distraction: research

By

VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) – We know talking and texting on your phone is dangerous but new research suggests singing behind the wheel can also be a distraction.

An Australian study, recently presented at an international conference in the Netherlands, suggests singing while driving impairs your ability behind the wheel, decreasing your awareness of hazards.

The Vancouver Sun reports there is some good news though: singing while driving apparently makes you go slower and is associated with better “lane control.”

The study’s author says the big picture message is that “drivers should keep their eyes, and mind, on the road at all times.”
