VANCOUVER (NEWS 1130) — A young B.C. woman with political aspirations is coming out in defense of a Nova Scotia Liberal candidate.
Robyn Ingraham says she was booted from the party because of her boudoir pictures and an Onlyfans account.
In an Instagram post, Ingraham wrote Wednesday that she was honest with the party regarding the photos and who she is from the get go. She considered any reaction to it as an opportunity for a teachable moment for the community and province.
Ingraham says she was blindsided when she received a call from the party telling her the pictures had made the higher ups uncomfortable.
“I believe the Liberal Government has made a mistake by kicking me out of the next election.” she said, “The misogynistic behaviour from those above you is not tolerable,” she said in an Instagram post.
B.C.’s Mackenzie Kerr is just one of many who have voiced their anger against Liberal party in recent days.
Kerr says she’s had enough of policing women’s bodies.
“Whatever we do in our own time shouldn’t dictate what we do while we are candidates or if you just have a career as a woman in general not even in politics,” she said.
Kerr is no stranger to politics herself. She has run federally and provincially for the Greens and decided before the last campaign there was nothing wrong with making her boudoir shots public, so she did.
I just read the news article about Robyn Ingraham, the provincial Liberal candidate in NS, who was kicked out of her own party for her boudoir photos. Well here are mine. They are all over my public Instagram as well. It’s time we change the definition of professionalism. 1/4 pic.twitter.com/breNiFcYYa

She says she’s happy to take the backlash from the public for other women who aren’t in a position to do so.
