Well wishes are pouring in for B.C. Premier John Horgan after he revealed he will undergo surgery on a lump found in his neck.
Horgan, who is a life-long Star Trek fan, ended his shocking health announcement Thursday with one of his favourite sayings.
“Live long, and prosper,” he said, while doing the world famous Vulcan salute hand gesture from Star Trek.

A short time later, he got some star-studded support from the final frontier.
“Wishing you a recovery that moves at warp speed!” wrote Starfleet starship Captain Kathryn Janeway herself.
Well, not exactly, but actress Kate Mulgrew, who portrayed Captain Janeway on Star Trek: Voyager, did share the message of support on social media.
Horgan, clearly delighted, responded, “Best captain ever! Thank you @TheKateMulgrew- it’s an honour to be a part of your crews.”

Back on earth, many have echoed encouragement to the premier, including Prime Minister Justin Trudeau.
“I join British Columbians and people across Canada wo are wishing Premier @JJHorgan a fast and full recovery,” he wrote. “Sophie and I are keeping you and your family in our thoughts, John – today, tomorrow, and in the days to come.”

Federal NDP Leader Jagmeet Singh also shared a message of hope.
“On behalf of New Democrats across the country, we’re wishing you a successful surgery and a quick recovery,” Singh wrote on Twitter, including an emoji of the Vulcan hand gesture with it.

Horgan says he will not step down as premier, and is determined to carry out his duties. He appointed Minister Mike Farnworth as his deputy premier in the event he needs help as he recovers from surgery.
A biopsy is scheduled for Friday, and the premier says the results will determine the next course of action.
He says he has been told it is treatable.
