Vancouver police investigating double homicide in city’s west side

Vancouver Police are investigating a shocking double murder in Vancouver's West Point Grey neighborhood.

Vancouver Police say two women were found shot to death in a vehicle in the West Point Grey neighbourhood Sunday morning.

The women identified as 50-year-old Shu-Min Wu and 39-year-old Ying Ying Sun were found by a neighbour in the area of West 8th Avenue and Discovery Street.

Police believe these were targeted killings.

Investigators had searched a nearby home – fearing there may have been other victims. However, no one else has been harmed.

A resident in the area told CityNews he heard what sounded like fireworks around 10 p.m. Saturday.

“So as far as I can tell, it was 12 hours or so between when the event occurred and when somebody must have contacted police. We heard sirens this morning. And then suddenly there was police tape everywhere.”

In the daytime, he says he stepped out of his home and saw three women who he believed knew the victims, who were unaware of the situation, arrive at the scene.

“We heard a great wailing out outside on the street. And the poor police officer that was on the scene was left with the unenviable task of explaining to these people.”

There is no word on a possible motive at this time and no arrests have been made.

Police remain in the area as they search for evidence.

Anyone with information or dash-cam video from the area is asked to contact VPD’s Homicide Unit at 604-717-2500.
