VIDEO: Man pushed down stairs at Vancouver SkyTrain station, suspect sought

Vancouver Police have released a video of a man being pushed down a flight of stairs at the Granville SkyTrain station earlier this month.

Police say it happened March 1 around 5:30 p.m. and are appealing to those with information to come forward and help identify the suspect.

The 61-year-old victim suffered minor injuries, and was treated by paramedics on scene.

Police say the victim had a brief interaction with two men outside the station, but did not provide details of what happened.

“One of the suspects followed the victim to the SkyTrain entrance and pushed him down a flight of stairs. As the victim was laying on the ground, the suspect allegedly kicked the victim before a passersby intervened. The suspect fled the area before police arrived,” Vancouver police said in a release Friday.

“Given the time of day and the location of the incident, we know there were people in the area who witnessed this assault,” Const. Tania Visintin said. “We also know there will be people who recognize the man in this video, and we’re asking them for help to solve this crime.”

The suspect is described as being in his 40s, with short black hair and a slim build. Police say he was wearing a black rain jacket with a small white logo on the left chest, a white t-shirt, dark blue jeans, black running shoes, and a red, white and blue ball cap.

Anyone who has information or anyone who recognizes the suspect is asked to call VPD at 604-717-4022.
