6.5-foot bronze statue stolen from Surrey church

Mounties in Surrey are looking for two people who stole a bronze statue from a church in the city’s Guildford neighbourhood.

The statue of St. Andrew Kim was stolen from the church’s property, outside of the Education Centre Building, on 161 Street at 102 Avenue Friday night.

The statue is 2 metres (6.5 feet) tall.

Surveillance footage captured the theft, showing the suspects using a dolly to move the statue and then load it into a light-coloured camper van. However, it is difficult to see any suspect details from the video.

“A theft of this nature goes beyond the monetary value, the statue has sentimental significance to the St Andrew Kim Parish,” said explained Surrey RCMP Cst. Sarbjit K. Sangha.

Anyone with information or video from the surrounding area is asked to contact the Surrey RCMP at 604-599-0502 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
