Calls for a ceasefire in the ongoing Israel-Hamas war are showing no signs of slowing down, with protesters once again taking to downtown Vancouver Saturday as part of the “All Out for Palestine” rally.
Hundreds of people gathered at the Vancouver Art Gallery, with many waving Palestinian flags and carrying signs pushing for an end to the violence.
Rallies and demonstrations have been ongoing across Canada, as the death toll in the Middle East continues to mount amid continued shelling.
The war, now in its seventh week, was triggered by Hamas’ Oct. 7 attack in southern Israel, in which militants killed about 1,200 people, mostly civilians, and abducted some 240 men, women, and children.
Meanwhile, more than 11,500 Palestinians have been killed in the war, according to Palestinian health authorities. Another 2,700 have been reported missing, believed to be buried under rubble. The count does not differentiate between civilians and combatants, but more than two-thirds of those killed were women and children.
The Saturday rally in Vancouver began at 2 p.m. Organizers suggest other events will be taking place in the coming week.
