North Van RCMP seeks suspect after senior hit with baton in alleged road rage incident

Mounties in North Vancouver say they’re looking for a suspect and witnesses after a road rage incident ended with a senior being assaulted with a baton earlier this month.
The senior suffered “significant injuries” in the Aug. 12 incident.
Police say they received calls about the road rage incident in the area of Rupert Street and Mountain Highway around 4 p.m. It was reported that a Tesla driver was tailgating another vehicle and speeding. When the driver was told by the senior to slow down, police say the Tesla driver allegedly followed the victim until they pulled over.
That’s when the RCMP says the suspect got out of his black Tesla Model 3 and hit the senior in the face with a baton.
The victim, identified as a man in his 70s, lost several teeth. The suspect is said to have left the area, heading north on Harbour Avenue. The suspect’s Tesla had black rims and red calipers.
“Investigators conducted an extensive neighborhood canvass and have since located CCTV video of the alleged assault,” said Const. Mansoor Sahak, media relations officer for the North Vancouver RCMP.
“Investigators are releasing CCTV images of the suspect and the vehicle in hopes that someone will recognize the suspect and call the police. We are also hoping that the alleged suspect in this assault does the right thing and comes forward to provide their version of the events.”
In addition to witnesses, the RCMP is asking anyone with dashcam footage of the area between 3:50 p.m. and 4 p.m. on Aug. 12 to get in touch.
