Grouse Mountain opens second gondola

Grouse Mountain Resort says it will unveil a new gondola Thursday afternoon after two years of construction.

The Blue Grouse Gondola reportedly features 27 eight-person cabins and an average trip time of 5.5 minutes — allowing the new lift to operate at a capacity of 1,000 people per hour.

Resort President Michael Cameron says the installation will “significantly enhance our guest experience by reducing lineups and wait times to access and egress the Mountain.”

The new gondola will complement the red Super Skyride Gondola, and the resort says the same lift ticket will cover both options.

In July, the company announced its plan to launch a mountain bike park and a gravity-fed mountain coaster in spring and summer of 2025, respectively.

“The addition of the gondola has allowed us to explore a whole mountain of opportunities not previously available with just the Red Super Skyride,” said Cameron.

The resort will cut the ribbon to open the Blue Grouse Gondola at 4 p.m.
